Preserving ethical values has always been a Portugal Telecom concern, considering the scope of its business and dimension.
In order to ensure reciprocal and transparent relations are maintained during procurement processes, any benefits for Portugal Telecom should always be presented in supplier proposals through better prices or services, without resorting to the offer of presents or small gifts or use of any other means of influencing.
Similarly, the following actions are not to be expected from suppliers in their relationship with Portugal Telecom:
Presenting less competitive prices in situations of direct adjustment or existence of a single supplier;
Presenting low prices during negotiations, in order to secure selection of their proposal, with the intention of increasing the aforementioned prices during possible contract negotiations;
Requesting price increases during the contract period;
Requesting information regarding other bidders;
Presenting or proposing ambiguous conditions, with the intention of gaining advantages relatively to other bidders;
Purposefully presenting untruths or misleading statements during the negotiation process;
Committing to operate beyond their capacity;
Exaggerating the severity of a problem in order to obtain negotiation advantages.
Proactiveness
Portugal Telecom expects a continuous proactive attitude from its suppliers in proposing innovative and profit-generating solutions, as well as in seeking cost rationalisation.
Respect
Suppliers should respect the communication channels installed in Portugal Telecom, presenting and negotiating proposals though the sole contact used in procurement processes for which the Group is responsible – PT Compras.
