 PT Compras is the Portugal Telecom Group company responsible for Negotiation and Procurement for all its business units. Procurement was centralized, on a national level, in a single company – PT Compras – in order to achieve evident efficiency and productivity gains, by making use of its continuous professionalization and specialization.
The history of Portugal Telecom company dates back to 2000, when a centralized procurement area – Department of Negotiation and Procurement – was created in PT Comunicações. Two years later, the Corporate Centre for Procurement and Investments was created in PT SGPS, in line with the procurement centralization process within the Portugal Telecom. In the beginning of 2003, after considering widening of the intervention of this Corporate Centre for Procurement, as well as a possible increase in its activity, the Portugal Telecom decided to create PT Compras – Serviços de Consultoria e Negociação, S.A.
Presently, the company responsible for Negotiation and Procurement for all Portugal Telecom companies also ensures Procurement for all International Subsidiaries, through a corporate procurement management model that makes use of corresponding country and market synergies and characteristics.
Considered a Best Practice on the level of large economic groups in Portugal, PT Compras has been contributing to the establishment of a connection between the Portugal Telecom and the Supply Market, continuously seeking opportunities with positive impact on the Group’s positioning, as well as allowing value creation.
